Keen Independent provides direct, individualized supportive services to DBE owners who must prepare a Personal Narrative for recertification. The process is sensitive and often difficult to complete without structured support. Our service is designed to help you explain your experiences clearly and in alignment with current expectations, without requiring you to navigate this work alone.
Our service includes three core steps, detailed below.
One-on-one listening session
You meet virtually with a member of our team for a structured listening session regarding your background, the challenges you have faced and the experiences that may be relevant to your Personal Narrative. Its purpose is to help you recall and articulate your potential social and economic disadvantage.
Draft Personal Narrative
We prepare a written draft based on what you share in the session. The draft document is organized, concise and professional. You will receive a working draft in the follow-up review session that you can refine and submit as part of your application.
Follow-up review session
We hold a second virtual session to review the draft with you and identify any additional details you may want included. You remain in control of the final narrative and can make further adjustments before submitting it to your certifying agency.
How much will this cost?
Keen Independent customizes pricing depending on the scope of your needs. As a small business ourselves, we understand that costs are an important factor for our clients. Our goal is to keep pricing reasonable.

Our Role
We do not guarantee certification outcomes and we do not communicate with agencies on your behalf. Our role is to provide informed, structured support that helps you prepare a Personal Narrative. You retain full responsibility for your submission and any additional documentation required by your certifying agency.
